Coffee Beans Close-Up

April Coffee of the Month

FRENCH CRIME ROAST

In April 2011, within the quiet, bourgeois neighborhood of Nantes, France, a family of five and their two dogs vanished.

Days later, investigators discovered a gruesome scene: the bodies of Agnès Dupont de Ligonnès and her four children were found buried under the patio of their home, neatly wrapped in lime and plastic.

The patriarch, Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès, was gone.

He had sent letters to relatives claiming the family was entering a witness protection program in the US.

His last known sighting was at a budget hotel in southern France, walking toward the mountains with a rifle case.

He has never been found, leaving behind a trail of debt, religious obsession, and a mystery that still grips the world.

BUT TONIGHT.......We are on the hunt for him.

The Challenge:

Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès is some where on this planet and we are going to find him.  Lets dig in and solve this crime, so the victims, families, the town of Nantes can finally put this case to rest.

The Brew:

French Crime Roast is crafted as a sophisticated, heavyweight dark roast. It is designed to mirror the "noir" atmosphere of a rain-slicked French street—bold, slightly smokey, and undeniably intense.

This roast is wrapped in that French Noir aesthetic.

Think high-contrast black-and-white visuals, misty Parisian streets, and the ornate ironwork reminiscent of a French chateau.

The Flavor Profile: A deep, sophisticated roast with international flair.

Roast Characteristics

Roast Level: Deep French Roast. Taken just past the second crack to allow the natural oils to surface, giving the beans a beautiful, shimmering sheen.

Body: Full & Syrupy. A heavy mouthfeel that coats the palate, providing a lingering finish that stays with you, much like a cold case.

Acidity: Low. The brightness is roasted out to favor deep, carbonized sweetness and earthy undertones

"The Three Pillars of Noir":

Bittersweet Cocoa: A foundation of 85% dark chocolate—bitter at first, but rich and satisfying.

Smoked Pecan: A hint of toasted nuttiness that provides a bridge between the sweetness and the smoke.

Burnt Sugar: A caramelized finish that mimics the "Crème Brûlée" torching process, providing a sophisticated charred sweetness.
